CAI

thats the only CAI kit i could find for an 05 mustang. Any good? especially if i'm not buying the re-flash... "Steeda streamlined the airflow in the 05 Mustang to the point that a computer re-flash isn't just an option, it's required! Check out the SCT Xcalibrator - the perfect tool for the job!" :-\ and... is that a good one, and what would you recommend if you were able to find others?

www.v6mustangstuff.com has alot of CAIs for the 05 v6
that steeda one that you posted requires a reflash
good ones that dont require them are the mmr one and the afe one
mmr: ~18 rwhp, ~$350
afe: ~12rwhp, ~&250
there is a guy here who got an mmr one with a retune and i think he hit like 30 rwhp gain

The data I collected shows that the car's computer thinks the MMR is actually flowing LESS air than stock. The problem is the MMR is actually flowing MORE air than stock. I believe this is due to a change in the MAF housing size. Ok, so what does this mean? What it means is the car is getting more air than the computer realizes so the the car runs lean! When I ask MMR about this, that the data logs were showing the MMR was flowing LESS air than stock they told me I must be doing something wrong... Ok... I had my very respected tuner Lidio, take a look. He collected all kinds of data, trims and load, etc.... stuff I had no idead what they were for... He found the same thing. The MMR was actually getting it's big gains my leaning the car out! In the end Lidio had to add about 18% more fuel to compensate for the MMR... now the MMR is a nice unit and I did get some nice gains... But I am leary of any CAI that claims big gains without a reflash!
I picked up close to 30RWHP with the MMR CAI, high flow muffler and tune. I'm guessing the MMR was good for 8 to 10 RWHP... a bit shy of their claims... but I did find that it really helped out at the higher RPMS... and I think it helped keeping the torque up all the way to 4000RPM...
is a reflash just getting the car taken to a tuner place and getting it retuend or buying like one of these http://www.mustangtuning.com/sct-xcalibrator-2.html type things?
