Finished it today!

PRODUCT:

Measuring hoses and checking for kinks and such:

Cut my original PCV hard line to make quick disconnects for the braided hose:

Put the quick disconnects on the hoses:

ALL DONE:

This was what was in the other one ~2000 miles:

10AN Braided line was just under $3.00 a foot on eBay.

Catch can was $24.00 on eBay, and is baffled for steel wool. The baffle is about 1.5" in
diameter. It unscrews and you have about a .5" of height to put the material in.

The black one, they sent me a new kit for free when the bracket broke on the red one.

Update:
How to properly baffle the catch can:

I order catch cans with removable baffles, and they are empty when you get them:

Stainless Mesh:

Baffle opened:

Stuff some mesh into the baffle:

Close it back up:

This baffle screws into the top of the catch can:

The stainless mesh helps to better separate the oil, so more of it is removed from the vapors.

The issue with some cheap catch cans, is that they position both the inlet and outlet ports too close
together and with no separation inside, leads to a fairly useless setup when it comes to separating
oil and vapors. Make sure it has a baffle!

School me on this. Is the engine suffering from blow by?

All engines have blow-by, some more severe than others. Blow-by is also a portion of car manufacturer oil
consumption rates. Blow-by amount is also based on the type of oil you use, and I will explain that farther below
with my previous Jetta TDI.

Dodge's revised oil consumption rates are high, even for new cars. Subaru considers a quart
burned every 1,000 to 1,200 miles to be acceptable. Certain Audi and BMW cars' standards
state that a quart burned every 600 to 700 miles is reasonable. I don't think so, but they do.

Chrysler says;
First 50,000 miles of engine life: one quart per 2,000 miles.
Engines with over 50,000 miles: one quart per 750 miles.
Aggressive driving conditions: one quart per 500 miles.

THAT was revised in 2013! I had an '07 Charger, and the rates were not that high... I think
they do use worst scenario numbers.

I had a 2000 Dodge Avenger ES, new right off the lot, no break in, ran the crap out of it. It had 153,000
miles when I traded it, and I never even bothered to measure the oil consumption. Never had any
engine work done to it, at all. Never ran low on oil, and never noticed I was way down between oil changes.

Break in periods are a complete falsehood now days...

Ford:
Ford Motor Company states that 1 quart of oil consumption every 800 miles is acceptable.
Well, there I have shown you, ~2000 miles, and just about a table-spoon of oil in there, so
that's just fine. Per Ford, oil consumption of 1qt per 1,000 miles is normal. It says in your owners
manual to check the oil on a regular basis, just like it does for any Ford vehicle.

Chevy:
The accepted rate of oil consumption for engines used in the vehicles referenced is 0.946 liter (1 qt) in 3200 km (2000 mi).
This is a 2011 revision.

If you are not leaking it, you're burning it. Most of that will be through the PCV system.
ALL cars with PCV systems will have oil vapors burned through the intake, that's
what it's for, and for relief of crank case pressure. The catch can helps take the oil out
of the vapor for a cleaner system and emissions. That amount I have in there for ~2000
miles is not a lot at all. It would be almost full at 10,000 miles, and that's how it has
been for all my cars, with one exception.

I had a VW TDI, and the catch can would fill up almost two times between oil changes.
That was still not high, and I'd rather it go into a catch can than the inter-cooler and intake.

Type of Oil makes a difference:
Here's the other thing. I was using Rotella T6 in the '13 Jetta TDI, and the catch would
fill up almost twice between every 10,000 mile oil change. THEN, I switched to an even
cheaper Diesel motor oil, Delo400, 5W40, and the catch hardly had anything in it at the
oil change. When I used Castrol 5W40, it would fill up maybe once by the 10,000 mile
oil change. For some reason, that cheap *** $20.00 a gallon Delo400 5W40 didn't come
anywhere near filling the catch can. I was also never down anything worth measuring when I
did the oil changes with the Delo400.

However:
There is a point where it's just too much, but when they ALL specify ONE quart in ~1000 miles?
What's excessive then? Dodge has gone as far down as 1qt per 500 miles once you get some
miles on it. SO, what is excessive with numbers like that, especially when you're not leaking
it.

I now have a '15 Jetta TSI. I use Mobile one 5W40, 0W40 Euro, or Castrol 5W40/0W40, and I mix a half a quart
of Delo400 5W40 in with that, at every oil change, and I gotta tell ya, I am not seeing a whole lot of consumption.
I am also running it with +6 lbs of boost. I am going to put a catch can in it to verify what I am using, but It's not
a lot from what I get at every oil change. HOWEVER, I do change the oil every 6 weeks, as I put 1800 miles
a week on it.

The so-called break in period determines your compression ring seal to the cylinder walls.
The rings do not exert a lot of pressure, most of the pressure exerted by the rings is from
the compressed air. Today's motors DO NOT need broken in like they used to. The crosshatch
pattern on the cylinder walls is gone within 20 miles now, because the process has been refined
so well. They do not use break in oil anymore, and the process is not even documented in
owners manuals anymore. The rings will seal better, and faster if you drive it normally
right off the lot, and DO NOT baby it. There is no more 500 mile break in period, NOTHING.
20 miles now, the cylinder wall cross-hatch pattern is completely gone, rings are seated.
