Shaft seal has failed or is failing from shrinking or cracking. No, it's not a "problem" with ford water pumps.

The car is 6-7 years old. Seals don't last forever and low mileage can actually contribute to seal degradation since any lubricants or other chemicals in the antifreeze that help to keep seals "healthy" don't get circulated as much as they would with higher miles.

Get a new pump and flush replace as much of the old antifreeze as you can while you're in there.

A lot of 3.7L v6 water pumps are going out at 20,000-35,000 miles. Mine is still good on my 2011 at 38,000 miles. Very easy to replace it yourself. It appears after you replace the factory water pump, it will be good for a long time. Should be several youtube videos on how to do it and cost less than $100, if you replace it yourself.
