Default Air Intake and Exhust questions answered

Ok, because of all the confusion and questions about exhaust and intake for the V6 mustangs, I decided to write a thread to help people decide what they wanted. First of all Intakes all are an improvement over stock, and, in my opinion, they all give about the same horsepower increase plus or minus a few horses. Your main choices at the moment are as follows.

Intakes:

AFE 2005 Mustang V6 Stage I Intake: Dyno 12HP and 11 torque - $250

JMS Chip & Performance have a V6 CAI system: Claim 13-20RWHP and 13-20RWTQ - $160 (Flash Required)

Street Smart Design 2005 V6 Mustang Intake: Claim no claims found – $350

MAC Performance 2005 Mustang V6 Mass Air System: No claim found - $185 (Flash Required)

Muscular Mustang Racing 2005 V6 Annihilator Intake Kit: Claim 8-15 WHP - $200

2005 V-6 High Flow Intake Kit w/MMR High Flow Tube: Dyno up to 18 WHP - $350

AEM Brute Force Air Intake System: Claim 8-19 WHP - $240

K&N 63 Series Air Charger High-Flow Intake Kit: Dyno 8WHP - $260

Airaid Intake System: 20% torque increase - $300

These prices are not exact, and I don’t think that all these companies claims are exact. The K&N results seem low, but they also seem realistic and are dyno proven. Really its your choice.

Exhaust:

Well your choices here are mainly between a full catback system (Piping from the Catalytic converters back), an axel back system (just muffler replacement) or a custom system using an X, Y or H pipe. The horsepower really varies between each system, but I would guess you may get up to a 12 WHP increase with a good system. I have taken the trouble to list of some of the exhaust choices and some sound clip links below. If you have more to add please post them.

Now this is a great resource! Thanks for all of your efforts!

Just one note... the link to my site for the jba evol duals... this is the y pipe version and it's with jba shorties. I understand that the jba true duals sound very similar.

And, to add a couple more options... the single GT take-off axle-back:

and, the single GT take-off axle-back with jba headers:

And, yes... admins... great sticky potential here!

To add to your very useful list:

JMS Chip & Performance have a V6 CAI system that (with their required Xcal2 tune) claims to add between 13-20RWHP & 13-20RWTQ (see their dyno sheet and webpages). Price is $160 (it uses an S&B brand conical filter)

Job well done! Also, the AFE 12HP is dyno proven.

I put the AFE unit on my car last week. I have an appointment to dyno tune my setup with 92 octane and JBA duals next week, so we'll see what the total combination is worth.

I'd love to see those results.
