first oil change

RE: first oil change
If I were you I would change the oil out real early at 1500-2500 miles, because there was still dust and steal shavings in the engine from when the engine was boored and that is still in there when the oil is added, but afte the first oil change, most of it comes out, but don't leave it in there too long, because you could damage your engine. after that 5,000 miles is good, don't use synthetic, I read somewhere that synthetic oil and Ford engines don't mix, don't know for sure though, but I wouldn't risk it.

Synthetic is the best protection one can get. If you're going to make a claim like that, a reference more detailed than "I read it somewhere" would be really helpful. I read "somewhere" that Elvis is still alive, we never landed on the moon and Bigfoot exists. Just 'cause it's printed, don't make it true....

RE: first oil change
I've also heard from friends that synthetic is the way to go, but Im not sure they know any more about it than I do. Does anybody else have an opinion on regular vs. synthetic oil for the Mustang? Does Ford have a recomendation, or is anything mentioned in the manual? I wont spend the extra $ if its no better than regular oil, or especially if Ford says not to use it.
Thanks.
Thanks.

RE: first oil change
Synthetic IS better than dyno oil. It doesn't break down nearly as fast, it's slicker, producing less friction, handles heat better, etc. I've used it in mine since I bought it. I use Mobile1 for mine. One thing, no matter what brand or type, use 5w20. It's the weight Ford wants you to use.
