Damn Impreza!!!
holy crap...those little ****s are quick!......i was driving home from work yesterday and this impreza was on my *** the whole freakin way (i was in my 2.5L ranger, mildly modified) like i was towing it. then the sucker passed me when the lane was clear and the thing took off like a GT. it ended up that the bastard lives on my street but i dont know him nor did he recognize me. i guess i'm wondering if anyone has had any experiences in their stangs with these little turbo charged imprezas. i'm guessing it was that WRX STI only cuz it was blue and looked just like the pics of the STI with big spoiler and sporty wheels. i wouldnt feel too bad if that thing was to beat me in my stang only cuz it costs more than what i paid for my stang and its only a 2.5L with not much more room for performance mods. except for my intake and exhaust, im pretty much stock and for a few grand i realize that i could get a procharger and smoke many stock V8's and pesky turbocharged 4 bangers. this guy and his impreza surprised me but i'm sure it helps that his car only weighs about 300 lbs so that turbo charged 2.5L must feel like a rocket...lol
oh yeah....maybe i could also race him in my Yamaha Banshee ATV with my FMF pipes and K&N carb kit......it think the weight on both should be about equal so it would be a good race.....haha.....no disrespect, just jokes...haha
It does sound like the STI, it has the big funky fin. They have 300 horses and are geared pretty low as well as being all wheel drive so traction is pretty good. That particular car outperforms an 05 GT with a 1/4 mile time of under 13.4 seconds. The STI costs around $32K so it's a bit pricey. Give an 05 GT CAI & tune and it would give the STI a good run for the money and still cost less. From what I've read the STI sounds pretty maxed out performance wise. Other than giving the turbo more boost there isn't much that can be done to improve it as it has all forged internals already and it inter-cooled as well. A Procharger S/C at 9 psi boost and strengthening of the rear end the V6 Mustang would perform as well if not a little better I think, and for much less money.
Of course a Mustang Cobra will outperform it every time.
