Default MMR TB Spacer

Greetings once again,

I have posted a few topics prior, showing my mods, but last night I received a couple items in the mail.

SMR black strut tower brace - $59 delivered
MMR throttle body spacer - $59 delivered

I installed both items last evening, and have to say I'm satisfied. The strut tower brace fits really nice, and looks factory. The MMR throttle body spacer went on really nice and easy, and seems to have made a difference in response. I can't tell if it made any more horsepower, until i get to the dyno. The seat of the pants feel, tells me it did something of notice. They told me over the phone, that they gained 5rwhp on a stock automatic V6 with just this spacer. I have made two changes since my last dyno run at Alternative Auto. I have changed to Royal Purple synthetics in the engine and transmission and added the MMR spacer. You can expect a 200rwhp dyno run the next time, which should be soon. My preious run was 197rwhp and 225rwtq. I can only hope, I picked up 3 rwhp since my last run. We shall see!

In conclusion, I would recommend both of these products to anyone interested.

See ya!

Very good, I'm really curious to see what the dyno shows on the TB spacer. Please keep us posted.

yeah... very curious too!

I saw a dyno sheet (done in-house) on Royal Purple synthetics at my shop yesterday. They showed a 6 hp increase with the oil.

I'll believe that when I see it on our own dyno sheets!

Notice they say on a "stock" airbox... I wonder how it will perform on your C&L where you have a much larger tube then stock...

If you can, please have Lidio make a run without the spacer and then with the spacer... That way we can get a really good idea if the spacer does anything... Ask him to do it for "V6 John".... LOL!

Believe it. That truck show that comes on on Saturday did a segment where they switched all the lubricants in a 4WD pickup (differentials, trans, transfer case, engine) and got a 10 HP gain on that particular truck. There is no question that RP reduces friction enough to increase HP. The exact amount will vary based on your particular application, but the 6 HP gain stated in Hamidlmt's post is well within the range of possibilities.

Second John's idea. This would isolate any gain due to the RP. The gains claimed for a TB always seemed extravagant to me and it would be great to see some direct evidence of whether or not they are accurate.

Dunno what sort of car they ran the test on... I'll try and snap a photo of the dyno sheet next time I'm in LOL!

I asked my shop about a TBS... here's their response...

[On the throttle body spacer, some people have seen noticeable gains,
however, I don't personally know anyone who has actually used one on an 05-06 V6
Mustang, but some of the forums are talking 8rwhp on vehicles with other
mods. You will see a little more throttle response, perhaps some fuel
mileage improvements, and yes, it will work with your intake. If you have
plans to do an actual throttle body down the road, you cannot use both.]

so, who's gonna be the first to dyno one?!

Yea please update this post because I'm curious myself on exactly how well they work, but I'm willing to bet I didn't do anything at all, but hey, who knows.
