Hi guys, this is my first post. I've been following the forums for a while now, just bought an '05 V6. Anyway, back to the topic at hand. I've been considering adding some double stripes to my Torch Red 'Stang, and I thought it would be cool to get a real carbon fiber hood, and paint it the same red as the car, but leave it paint free where the stripes would be, so I'd have "carbon fiber stripes". I saw this thread and thought I'd put in my two cents.
my neighbor did that minus the stripes (red car- red carbon fiber) i thought it looked horrible... but hey thats just me

OK.....SERIOUS QUESTION...... SORRY TO TAKE A BREAK FROM THE COMEDY

I remember seeing this posted a while back, but cant remember where.

I want stripes, but dont want to pay more that about $250 for them. Is vinyal with a clearcoat gonna be as "sturdy" and long lasting as painted stripes would be? What should i do?????

Im thinking white stripes on my black 06 pony package. Was thinking red but passed a black GT in town today with red stripes!! doh! [:@]

It's supposed to be a bowl of rice, but it looks carved out of plaster or something. Yummy.

It's not advisable to clearcoat over vinyl. Vinyl doesn't last forever, and if you clearcoat over it and it yellows or cracks you will have one nasty time getting the vinyl off of there. If I did stripes on mine I'd go white as well. Second choice would be silver. I don't care for the red stripes on black.
