I use lighter fluid for lighters (white gas), not the stuff for BBQs. Comes in that plastic yellow squeeze bottle with blue flip top. It cleans off sticky and evaporates very quickly without leaving a film. Gets grease stains out of the carpets too.

It's never hurt mine, but test it in an obscure spot first to try it for yourself.

I keep a bottle of "Goo Off"... great stuff and doesn't hurt the paint!

I second the goo off - it's totally safe and smells like oranges
