need new tires
I need new tires and I was wondering what the widest tire is that I can put on this rim. I bought these from a local so I don't know anything about the size besides they are 17" Roush rims. I have a 255 on the backs now, those are 245 in the photo. If you could help me out with what tire I should get that would be great. I just have a stock V6 so a good traction tire is not needed, I just drive this car as a daily driver and want a wide tire on the back, I wouldn't mind having a tire that has a neat tread pattern. Any help would be great, thanks in advance.

RE: need new tires
My daughters SN 95 has 285/35/18 on back and 245/45/18 on front. They are both about 1/4 inch to wide, every now and then the rubb a small amout on the iner fenders.

RE: need new tires
Derek00 You really need to lower that thing... like NOW!
With a 17x9 rin you can run a 275/40/17 on the back without any problems
Lemme know what kind of weather you get around your area and I can recommend a tire accordingly. So long as you dont get any snow, I can set you up with some really nice tires that will suit your needs perfectly

I know about lowering it...this summer is when i plan on doing that, trust me, it drives me nuts every time i see it sitting up so high. About the weather, I live in the south east corner of Nebraska so we get snow a couple times during the winter season....but when that happens i let it sit anyways, so the only thing that i really need to worry about is wet traction when it rains, but if i have a wide enough tire shouldn't that not be a problem? Thank you for all your help.

+1, too wide of a tire is REALLY bad for rain, because the tire has to disperse more water than a narrow tire would. Wide tires are prone to hydroplaning.

Every rim has to have the size either cast or stamped into the wheel some where. I believe its a law. On aluminum rims its usually on the inside face of the rim it might say something alont the lines of 17x8JJ. You might have to clean out the brake dust and/or grease to read it.
