1993 5 lug rim size?
I just gathered parts to convert my 93 mustang gt from a 4 lug to a 5 lug setup. All parts came from a 94 mustang. I was wondering what size rim and width of a rim/tire I can fit under the car.

I had an '85 GT and ran 245/40/17"s on 8" wheels with nearly a 2" drop. Zero rubbing running on all four corners. I could have gone 8.5" up front and 88Mach1 runs a 275 on a 9" out back. He had to roll the fenders out back and quad shock can rub at that width.

Well i was hoping i can try 17x9's in the front and 17x10.5 in the rear. i seen an article in mustangs mag and this guy had 17x10s but he had to roll his fender lip and do some minor hammering, no problem. but the rubbing is what im concerned. Im just curious before i start buying rims and tires.

I don't see 9"s up front OR 10.5"s out back without some serious tub-work under fender. Check out 88Mach1 gallery and PM him. He has 9" out back (with 275's, I think), but would be theoretically possible to run 10"s based on 1" spacer he has installed. I figure you can go 8.5"s up front, but do not know for sure.

i've got 17 x 9s with 245/45s on the front and they fit fine. they do rub a little bit on the control arms when i have the wheels turned all the way. it's minor though. you can get steering rack limiters to fix that.
sorry, but i don't see 10.5s fitting in the back. i had 17 x 9s with 245/45s on the back and a 1 in spacer. even with those, i had to roll the fender lip. now i have 275/40s on the same 17 x 9s, but without the spacer, and i had to take a hammer to the inner fender to make 'em work.
with the correct backspacing, you might be able to fit a 10in rim out back, but i still have my doubts.

oh, i forgot to ask. did you use the rear axles from the 94 Mustang?
cuz if you did, that's going to move your wheels out 3/4in. the axles from 94+ are longer.
you should still be able to to fit a 245 without any problems. however, a 275 might be pushing it.
