hows a 17x8 wheel with 4.5" backspacing going to fit on the rear of my 91.

 

Head over to American Muscle and choose "Mustang wheels" on LF column. Go to '79~'93 wheels and choose a 17"x8" wheel. Look at the off-set/back-space info near middle of web page.

Seems to me that is a good number and will fit with clearance for rubbing on both fender and wheel well.
