Default Tire Wear is abnormal

I have a 1998 GT and my Drivers Side front tire is wearing the inside to the point of making the car vibrate and or growl. (I just got the car) I have noticed that they have rotated and now the rear vibrates as both drivers side tires are worn with a reverse cup style on the inside? The passenger side is wearing ok. Any clue to what I could look at replacing or should I just take it to an allignment shop and have them diagnose it???

Thanks

There could be a couple things happening and an alignment shoppe can figure it out for you. You may have some worn out parts, such as a ball-joint or bushings on the "A" arms. There are some other possibilities, but would just be speculation.

I just got off the phone with an alignment shop and they said they would shake it down and diagnose it for me for free!! They will not align a car with pre-existing problems.

Agreed

Sounds like they will check it out and let you know what is happening. With uneven wear, such as you have, I would not be surprised to find some worn parts up front.

Could very well be, could also be the cupping wear in the tires.

Ok, Update!! I went to the alignment shop and now know that my car is down for the winter!!!!!!!!! Kind of sucks as I just got it but I do not want to end up in a ditch.

Ball joints and struts!! The driver side ball joint has a little play, but the passenger side ball joint has 1/2" play in it!!! That is the bump that I hear when I leave my driveway!! The struts are leaking and rusted. I got her home after the shakedown and the noise from the ball joint would raise your hair on your neck.

So I will be saving for Moog ball joints and ???? Struts. Any suggestions on struts? Keep in mind I am on a very tight budget! (3 kids and a very small petty cash account). This is a weekend toy so I cannot treat it like a DD.

I have searched Rockauto and the moog ball joints are $41 each, and Monroe Struts are like $58. I will probably go with Monroe sensa tracs on front and rear.

Anywho, found the issue and seeing my wheel move up and down that much makes me kick myself for tooling around with my kids in there before getting it checked out. But it is up on stands now waiting on replacement parts.
