Default Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetric

I am in need of replacement tires for my '97 Cobra Convertible. It's got standard size 245X45X17 Kumhos on it now and they are looking like racing slicks. No chord showing but all the tread but the two circumferential wear guides are gone. I'm getting good even tire wear, but driving in rain gets a bit dicey.

I'm going to plus-size and go with 275X40X17 on the stock Cobra wheels which would put another half an inch or so, of width on each side. I don't expect any fitment problems and the new tires would be nearly identical in diameter/circumference.

I'm looking at the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetric and reading the reviews on their website it seems to be a good choice, but I am always skeptical of the Joe Blow reviews. I'd rather hear from any of you on the forum who'd care to share your experience or offer any advice.

I went ahead and bought the tires. So far, so good. They are quiet and the car really sticks in the turns and on acceleration compared to the tires that were on it when I bought it.

and I think the extra inch of tread width really looks good.

Looks great on your car.

On my Mustang I switched from stock BF Goodrich tires to Michelin and was amazed how much quieter the Michelin's are.

Thank you. I am happy with how they turned out. I wanted the extra inch of width without going to aftermarket rims or a taller tire. Perfect for my needs. The car doesn't get driven much, but I will put it pretty hard into corners once in a while when I do get it out to drive. Main thing for me was to get quieter tires. Convertible has plenty of wind noise as it is, don't need the tires singing along.
