The second annual NMRA Cobra Jet Showdown presented by Jackie Jones Ford was once again held at Bradenton Motorsports Park in sunny Bradenton, Florida. The 2013 season-opening Cobra Jet showdown is always a good race as many Cobra Jet owners use it as a shakedown event for the NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Florida. Twenty two Cobra Jets were on the property running in seven different index classes.

Creations n’ Chrome’s Top Notch Mustang Puts Down 855 RWHP

Very few shops are taking on extensive Fox Body Mustang projects these days, but Creations n’ Chrome, is used to bucking the trend. After building S197 Mustangs for the SEMA Show in 2010 and 2011 as well as creating the aviation-based Mustangs that were auctioned off at EAA AirVenture the past two years, the Valencia, CA-based company decided to build the ultimate Fox Body Mustang. Their “Top Notch” Mustang was first announced a little over a year ago, with a mostly-finished car debuting at the SEMA Show less than ten months later.

Roush Announces Updated Mustang Lineup for 2014 Including Aluminator Engine

Today Roush announced the details for the 2014 lineup including the RS, Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3 Mustang. While much remains the same for 2014, just like the factory lineup, Roush has brought a few updates to the table highlighted by an additional 10 horsepower for the Stage 3 (up to 575 from 565) and a new Ford Racing Aluminator engine option for customers that might want to add even more horsepower to the supercharged 5.0-liter V8.

Road & Track Confirm 2.3 Liter Ecoboost for US

It’s official. The 2015 Mustang will come to the good ‘ol US of A with a four-cylinder Ecoboost option. The kicker? It’s probably not going to be the base model engine.
This confirmation comes from the guys at Road and Track, so we’ll see if they’re actually right later on. But if they are, that means this’ll be the first time the Mustang has been offered with a four banger since the fox-body days. The last time the Mustang came factory with a turbo of any kind was the SVO Cobra.

Independest Test Says Shelby GT500 Runs 10s

With 850 horsepower on tap from its supercharged 5.8-liter V8 the 2013 Shelby GT500 Super Snake has the potential to compete with some of the top supercars in the world, but whether the car can put all that power to use is another question. Shelby is out to prove that it can, and have announced that the 2013 GT500 Super Snake has achieved ten second quarter mile times using street legal tires and pump gas. A recent test session, which was done by an independent driver at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Bradenton, FL, resulted in several mid-10 second passes including a best time of 10.66 seconds at 137 mph using Nitto NT5550R street tires
