Incredible Story of a Million-Mile Mustang

By -

Nearly 600,000 miles had been racked up since the ownership was transferred from father to son in 1988

For some cars, 100,000 miles is a significant achievement. But how about hitting that achievement 10 times over? That’s exactly what this million-mile Mustang has done, and it has done so in surprisingly short order, too.

Incredible Story of a Million-Mile Mustang

With 289 reliable cubic inches powering this Ford, it was bought used in the early ’70s. By that time, it had already achieved fairly lofty status in the mileage department. Daily-driver duties would be the main purpose for this Mustang up to 1988. At that time, 400,000 miles had turned over on the odometer, and every single service had been tracked.

After the tradition of father giving his son the beloved car in 1988, it continued to be used regularly. Lofty mileage continued to pile on, and eventually 700,000 and 800,000 miles were within sight. October 20th, 2016 it officially reached the million-mile goal, and the owner says he will continue to drive it as intended.

We would like to know more about certain mechanical parts and maintenance performed on the car, as the nerds among us would be curious to find out. We’d sure want to know if the engine or transmission have ever been rebuilt. Or, how many tires and brakes it has gone though. Such information isn’t really outlined in the video above though.

Regardless, it’s a great story. And we sure wish the owner another million miles!
