I am coming to the darkside!
I am buying a Ford! After being a die hard chevy I have lost all hope in them and the 05 GT is down right awesome looking. Way better then the GTO for sure. I still have my chevy II of course though haha.
Unfortunately looks like it will be another month before I can get serious about it. I have window shopped my area and there is tons of V6's and few GT's and most are fully optioned 29K+ or close to it. I would like a barebones GT 5 spd to stay under 26K. Hopefully the dealers in this area will get some more soon. I am waiting for the hype to die down so I can do some negotiating. Anyone know if they will speed up production or if they will send out bigger shipments come the beginning of the new year? Who has pre ordered and how did that work? Is it pretty much you pay the msrp price and you pick it up when it arrives? I don't think I will find many low optioned GT's just sitting and waiting for one to show up. Any advice?
Thanks!

RE: I am coming to the darkside!
Pricing is very dealer supply sensitive. It took some negotiating to get my dealer to agree to place a car on order for me at X-Plan pricing. He also said it will be prioritized below his current batch of full-list orders, so it will arrive a month later. Oh well. 1 month = $2,100+ savings... easy math for me.
If you can be patient, you might as well order a car optioned & priced the way you want. With most dealers they take a $500 deposit which they'll return if you decide not to buy. They may make you wait until the car sells, but GTs sell in a few hours so you'll get your money back quickly. On a high demand car, it actually helps the dealer out even if you decide not to buy it because you are helping him get an extra car above his allotment.

I always love it when Chevy people admire or even drive a Ford. But hey lets face it we all have love for corvettes. I just don't tell anybody. I grew up in the 60's as a kid loving the Sting Ray.
