Hey guys

Just a quick question....I installed a Steeda CAI and got an SCT3 and tune from American muscle, and now it seems like the electric fan kicks on all the time?? Is there a setting in the tune that is possibly telling the fan to come on at some insanely low temperature??? I mean if I start the car, drive it around the block, by the time I get home the fan is on and running??? This started immediately after I installed the CAI and tune so I am assuming its related. The car only has 2k miles on it and this is the first mod besides the shifter.....

Have you contacted AM yet? I know the tune does change the temp at which the fan comes on. Maybe they can email you a new tune and download it to the SCT. I am going with the Steeda CAI and VMP tune.

Yeah, I answered my own question by going on the SCT site and actually reading the directions....there is a category for temp that the fans come on...I am guessing that AM decided to make that a lot lower number.... I will have to give them a call and see how much they changed it from stock...or maybe ask either Brenspeed or Bama when I get the tunes for the car. I plan on waiting til I finish the exhaust before I get the next tune and am just going to run with what I got for the next month or so...

Wish there was a way to view the tunes that are on the thing....the actual settings, on my pc so I dont have to go sit in the car to look at any of it...I know on my bike I had a power commander and we made our own adjustments all the time via pc.

The only mod I have on my car is a JLT II CAI and the fan is running all the time. What is the ideal temperature to set the low and high fans at?

Yes it's usually changed in the tune, my BAMA had it set to 198, to me that's too low it's always on high so I reset it using the SCT, I'm testing different settings as to what I want it at though.

Stock is supposed to be: low - 216, high - 228

Thats high to me so I currently have mine at 210, and 222 seems ok.

What if I set it at: low - 200 ; high - 210

Everything should be jsut fine as long as you dont set temps higher than factory. If it comes on sooner than factory it all should be fine, but you dont want the engine getting hotter than factory specs...for sure!! I set mine for 200 and 210 tonight and will see how that works. I will prolly look up the factory thermostat and see what it is also and maybe put in a cooler one....if cars even still do that!! LOL (been a while since I have had a car to work on, it has been bikes the last 10 years or so...)
