New Owner With a Few Questions...
#11
I got it... no need to keep kicking me when I'm down!
I figured as much before I posted. I was hoping people would change my mind. Needless to say, they haven't... and I guess I respect the community for it - even if it isn't what I was hoping to hear. No Cobra emblems.
I may get a set and keep them in my "secret" drawer

I believe the CS stripes are stock. Ford charges an arm and a leg for their stripes though.
IMO, I wouldn't do much to the body in a sense of body kits, since it is what it is, but definitely make it your own with some aesthetics, such as wheels, stripes, blackout panel, etc. Aside from that, you can dive deeper into performance. Customizing is where the fun's at!!

you've got a great looking car, the hood should stay where it is. like others said the gt/cs is just for appearances. i think the hood scoop looks pretty cool. i'm pretty new to the mustang community, i got my '06 gt back in april, and i love it. so far the only thing i've done to it is pypes muffler deletes (they sound awesome, i would recommend looking at them on americanmuscle.com), and a k&n air filter. definitely look at exhausts and cai/tuner packages, i'm hoping to get one of those in the near future. how do you like the car so far?

The salesman asked if I like Mustangs and when I said yes but that I wasn't interested in buying one - he said he had one he wanted to show me and he took me in the back and showed me this one. It was in the shop being prepped for sale - it hadn't even hit the sales floor. It has a CAI (don't know about tuning) and Flowmaster system on it already. He started it up and the sound was sweet... he let me take it for the afternoon. A few hours later I came back and asked where to sign.
That was it... I owned a Porsche 911 Carrera before the family arrived, and this is by far a more fun car to drive. I am certain the Porsche was faster, but the Mustang is a more visceral ride.
The only thing I am sure about is that I want 1/4 window louvers. And a new suspension set-up. It is already fast, I want it to handle like it is on rails...

Love the car so far. I always wanted a Mustang, but there always seemed to be a reason not to get one. I was actually looking to trade in my F250 on a small car to save gas.

Have you looked at a few different kinds? Mine are from http://www.wheelskin.com and are stick on. Alot of guys on here love the SHR louvers but they are more expensive and require more work to install (they replace the glass instead of cover it)
Also, about the cobras. I say put them on! But not untill you have a dyno sheet showing 500hp at the crank

The only rare S197 Calif Special is one that has ZERO miles on it and is totally stock and fully loaded. Since you don't have that (practically nobody here does) you can keep it the way it is and save a ton of cash or mod to your taste (hopefully tastefully!).
If you want the car to handle you will have to extensively modify it. Pumping in $$$ on suspension components will give the Mustang incredible handling (though still not the kind you'd get with IRS) but you won't get it back on resale. Just be sure to do it all at the same time. That means upgraded shocks, dampers, sway bars and the rest.
The good news is that you won't have to waste money on Cobra badges. Be unique and you'll earn lots more admiration and maybe a few trophies too!
Show us some photos when you get a chance!
