Tires for my 2007 v6 premium 235/55 17 inch alloy wheels

Why get four tires when you only need two?
You probably have the Pirelli P-Zero Nero M+S, which are no longer manufactured. The new model is the Pirelli P-Zero Nero A/S. Pirelli says that it is okay to use that combination as long as you do not mix them on the same axle and use the A/S on the rear.

There's usually a trade-off between handling and tread life. For what it's worth, here's the list of the recommended high performance summer tires in this issue of Consumer Reports:
Goodyear Eagle F1
Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT
Michelin Pilot Sport PS2
Conti Extreme Contact DW
Hankook Ventus V12 Evo
The Pirelli PZeros come in close behind at #6. All of these have sucky tread life except the Dunlops. The Michelins are the best balance of handling, braking, and comfort. Best rolling resistance (for MPG) are the Dunlops and Michelins. I know a lot of members swear by the Nitto NT 05s. CR says good handling and braking but bad hydroplaning, noise, and comfort.
In the Performance category (one step down in class from the above), CR recommends these:
Pirelli P Zero Nero All Season
Sumitomo HTR A/S P01
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus
Conti Extreme Contact DWS
The Michelins are pricey but are the only high performance tire that is ranked excellent for tread life. The Sumitomos have avg tread life and get esp. high marks for noise and comfort. They also have a bargain price. I'm leaning toward the Sumitomos when I replace mine.
This is just one opinion, though I usually find CR unbiased and accurate about most things. You can compare these rankings with Tire Rack.
