Default Scotchgard paint protection??

When I put my order in for 2011 GT they threw this option at me. Sounds great but does anyone know if this stuff really works or is it BS? Are there better options that anyone has found that protects the whole car?

When I asked people about this one after picking up my 5.0, people gave me an earful of that's a load of crap, don't buy into it. So I can't talk from experience but I can say that I haven't done it to my car at least

I think the general consensus is to do it yourself if you want it done. Don't let the dealer gouge you on this "option".

Don't listen to the snake oil salesmen. Buy some quality detail products and give yourself a good wax job.

Now that just sounds dirty. And/or potentially quite painful.

the only real paint protection is a clear shield (bra) like 3M.
I hate that dealers try to charge you $499 for some fancy wax.

Don't do it. It is the standard tack on items that dealers try to sell you for extra money. You can do this yourself for MUCH less money. Congrats on your new purchase, and welcome to the forums. Post pics when you can.
