I think they were supposed to clean it on his last servicing.

So the TB was really dirty, took me 1/2 the day to get it done. 3 hours wasting time trying to figure out where the sockets are in the garage and taking it apart, 1 hour to clean it, 15 minutes to put it back.

Made a big difference, seems like it opened up the airwaves and the car breathes much better, no erratic idle when slowing down.

The test will be tomorrow when I do about 100 miles.

The brenspeed video that shows how to clean the TB is edited for time because it was a lot more difficult to clean than I thought, I had to get an old toothbrush out to scrape around the grime.

A dirty TB.... Why didn't I think of that (as in post #'s 3, 7 and 9 and Brenspeed stated in #15)?

Cleaning the TB is usually a 30-40 minute job, tops. But you managed to save a few bucks and became more intimate with your vehicle. It's a win-win... Of course, you DID get your hands dirty but hopefully you had your Zanax handy...

Hey, we're ALL a little nutz...

Yes I used TB Cleaner and did wear surgical gloves to clean

The work was not difficult, it was just tedious, I already work 6 days a week and there are limited times when I can rest on a weekend.

Yes we are nuts a little in some form of way or another...I usually take Ativan instead of Xanax

Glad you got it straightened out without undue expenditure. Also glad you have a sense of humor. Cheers!

I have been tackling the same problem for about 3 years. In those 3 years i have gone through 3 throttle bodies, 2 stock and 1 BBK. It happened with my Bama tune and my Brenspeed tune, every time i went into ford to replace the TB the dealer would always make a comment about how many mustang and f150 owners come in buying replacement throttle bodies and how many they had to keep in stock on a regular basis. Its a known issue on the car especially after they have been modded/tuned. Your best bet is to quit getting mail order tunes and take your car to get dyno tuned, ever since i did it i have had no problems and the car runs sooo much better than with mail order tunes. It is worth the 300 (give or take).

Lesson here is never mod a car in any way unless your prepared to do some wrench turning and have the knowledge to do so. Very rarely is something truly plug and play in the performance world.
