so I must have ****ed something up somewhere where I connected the wire to the new alternator? its already back togeather ill take more pcis tomorrow when i pull it back off.
All i did was, take the nut off the hold alternatir, put the cable ( has a circle ring end) onto the new alternator, and fastened the nut. ( new alternator came with a new nut)

What did you replace the alternator with? Perhaps it's bad (internally shorted). It happens, but shouldn't with a new one.
An ohmeter is your friend here. Check between the alternator big wire and ground, it's probably shorted. Or your wire may be wedged against the crossover from installation. The problem is very localized.
You can splice in a new fusable link or get a new wire from Ford. Or a fused cable (4 ga. or 2 or 0, through a fuse to the battery, such as the PA upgrade kit).
But first find and correct the short.

Just a follow up on this. AS it turns out when I put the new alternator on, the rubber boot covering the nut had the smallest of cuts in it and was grounding out to the block. Wrapped her up good in electrical tape ( Like I normally would have done the first time but was to lazy to go to the store and get a roll) and all is well. I replaced the burnt fusible link with a built in fuse box with contains an 80 amp fuse.
So now if the alternator ever shorts out again itll just pop that fuse rather than dealing with a fusible link wire.
