A set of cams for this thing is way more than what I expected! I'm used to just a couple hundred for a GM cam.
Well, there is a BIG difference in our Coyote cam versus a pushrod GM cam... For one we have DOHC and variable valve timing... There is a lot more that goes into creating them then in the old days. But we know the technology works... How else can FoMoCo squeeze 412 (MY2011-12) to 420 (MY2013) out of a measly 302cu?

Nothing is cheap these days..lol I remember modding my car back as recent as say.. 2003 ish.. and headers were like $300, the entire exhaust was $350, a full bodykit was like $600..CAI was about $150... on and on. Now Its over $100 to buy just about anything and most stuff is in the $300-$900 range. Unless you want bodykit or something then its even more.
Oh well, all I did was help proove a point. I still bought it all anyway... the point being.. doesnt matter what it costs, if you want it, you are going to buy it..lol

your first mod should be CAI/Tune... then probably axle-back exhaust... then gears.... then wheels/tires (drag radials)... then lowering springs/shocks/struts... then lower control arms... then panhard bar... then MGW shifter...then nitrous... then larger throttle body... then oil catch-can... then blower swap... larger heat exchanger w/dual fans... then longtube headers... then o/r x... then full 3" exhaust... then larger CAI... then new spark plugs... then electric water pump... then larger injectors... then Boost-a-pumps... then 1-piece driveshaft... then weight reduction... THEN sell and start the process all over again

Turn off the computer, go out to your car and drive. What the hell are you doing on a car forum when you have a two-hour old mustang GT in the driveway?

Congrats on the new car, man. First mod: Whipple.

I had to go into the office right after I bought it unfortunately and the one I'm driving is a loner GT while mine is being transferred from a sister store.

I do have a question about exhaust. Why do I see a multitude of new mustangs with axle back exhaust? Does it come from the factory with an X pipe?

Part of it is that I believe exhaust flow is less restricted in the 2011+ GTs from the factory. But I also think that most people care about the sound of their cars above quite a bit of other things. I personally love the H pipe sound anyway, gives a throatier note to a good axleback exhaust setup. Love my Borlas!

What's the first thing you guys usually do besides adding the obligatory CAI? Also, what's the rear end ratio? With six gears I can afford to put a 3.73 or 4.10 in if it's not close to that now.
The first thing I would recommend you do is a Steeda CAI & SCT X3 tuner with Steeda custom tuning. The Boss intake manifold is also a good upgrade to go along with that.

Congrats on the purchase BTW!
