Your best bet is get on [insert perferred mustang parts vendor here] .com and load up a cart and drop some money on engine goodies. I mean, can't be too carefull you know..

Maybe back in the day, a fuel pump that was in a tank that got run dry would overheat. These days, that probably won't be a problem.

If you run out of fuel again, after putting in a gallon or two, don't immediately try to start the car. Put the key to the on position and give it a few seconds. That will allow the fuel pump to prime/pressurize your injectors so they aren't pumping air when you start the car. That can take a toll on your injectors over time if it happens a lot.
