Default Possible Fuel Pump Problem?

Hey all!
So yesterday I got in my car, went to town, came back and everything ran fine. No problems. This morning I get up and start my car. starts right up. within 5-10 seconds of starting the rpm slowly gurgle down and die. try to restart a few times and no luck. my neighbor said it sounds like the battery and starter are strong. he said the motor wants to start but seems like its getting no gas. he said that he could not smell any gas either. We checked the fuel pump relay. it was very very hot. almost too hot to hold for more than a few seconds. i called the ford dealership in my town and the mechanic said it sounds like a fuel pump has gone out. that would explain the lack of gas smell, the hot fuse, and the way the car started then puttered out.

what do yall think??

thanks for your speedy response. I know yall will help me.

Could be fuel pump, could be injectors, could just be the relay. Won't know w/o troubleshooting.

Try the reset button on the fuel shut off? It's in the drivers side kick panel past the hood release.

Sure you have gas in it?

I checked the fuse. Looks good. How do I check the relay?

I'm positive it's got gas. Why would the fuel reset be tripped?

Someone bumping into your car can pop the reset. You'll have to stick your head down in the footwell most likely to see it. Has a button on top you push down on.

Might be a picture of it in your owners manual.

well now its fixed. weirdest thing. i checked the fuel pressure sensor stem and the fuel rails were full of gas. so obviously the fuel pump works. checked some fuses. and my ignition fuse was a 10 amp, the manual said it is supposed to be a 20 amp wtf. why on earth would someone put a 10 amp on there. anywho, before i replaced the proper fuse in the fuse box, i tried to start the car and it fired right up? odd, so then i went and got me some fuses to replace the 10 with a 20. idk what happened
