Exhaust drone question
#11
Mathusula2, I used M80s too. They're staggered 4 inches I think. Enough to break up the drone a bit. Been noticing though that when the temps drop below freezing, this setup isn't as effective as in warmer temps...weird.
Sterling302, it'll lessen in volume as you get up there when cruising. Full throttle blasts are a different story. You'll freak people out in traffic for sure.

I'm very ok with volume at WOT. I don't necessarily advertise my car as a sleeper. But I figure it'll at least kill two birds with one stone. I can get the 4.10s I want, and the cruise rpm at 70 won't be EXACTLY 2k rpm

If it doesn't drone at 2400-2700 then 4.10's will do the trick for the highway. My Borlas drone like hell but on the highway at 65-75 they are silent with 4.10's and an x pipe.
Sound deadening won't do **** for drone FYI.. already been there and done that. If you want to get rid of the drone completely just go with some Corsas

+1! Had Macs on my 07 too for like 6 mo. Sounded great but my ears would be ringing when I got home from work. Couldn't hear the radio either. Switched to GTAs. It's funny, I can still hear the drone if i listen for it. That makes me think that it's just the way the mustang exhaust is setup at least on 05-10. I know the OP has a 5.0. Supposedly swapping the type of muffler and or where they are helps. I didn't want to mess around with more than axle backs on my car though. I also thought about changing my rear but I was worried that it would drone at 45 instead of 60-65 lol
