Yes, they are designed to run hotter but that doesn't mean the OEM makes cars different for every driving style and weather type. Here in AZ, the dealer even recommends dumping the 195F thermostat for a 180F. The one I go to will even reprogram the Temps the fan kicks on at so it's matched correctly.

They also use a different Orifice tube for "Severe Heat conditions' at the dealer when servicing the A/C system. Again, a departure from the OEM because the AC system in my car from the OEM is the same as those in more moderate climates like Cali.
