Even downstream of the catalytic converters, exhaust gas temperature can reach 1000°F or more. I doubt that the materials used for throttle body components at far lower temperatures would hold up.

C'mon, Norm! He's an engineering student! You and I know full well how those engineers ALWAYS get it right.

Nuke why does everything u say have to be so rude. I not trying to impress anyone. If u have anything to contribute to this thread in a positive way then go ahead.

Thanks norm. That is something I am taking into consideration. I guess I'm just going to try it and see how it pans out.

Sema, Norm and I are both engineers (we worked for the same company at one time) so I was just being sarcastic. It wasn't meant rude. But I'm good at being abrasive so go with your strengths, right?

Have you considered hearing your pipes with the axlebacks off before you install the cutouts? You may really dislike the tone.

Cema - if that's the worst you ever hear up through the early years in your career, consider yourself to have gotten off way easier than most. (and IIRC from the other end of my career it was the thin-skinned guys that got picked on the most).

Once. Once I have taken off one axle back muffler. Left side. Just to see how it would sound. It was a cool Sunday morning about march. I started it up and my gosh, it was so loud. The sound was bouncing off the building around me. it was a cold start. I was scared of waking up all the neighbors so I shut it off within a few seconds. So I truly don't know (remember) wat it will sound like on a warm idle. I Amy take the, off today and see since it will be nice and warm.

The theottle body temp problem is tricky. Maybe I could fab my own butterfly valve?
