A 347 isn't that expensive and will outrun a similiar built 351, so yes, you can beat cubic inches. Just how much do you plan on saving building a 351?

If he has a 351 then it will be pretty much the same price to build a 408 stroker than building a 347. But swaping a windsor he will need a oil pan, pickup tube, headers, and a hood, that is where the cost will be different.

...plus the initial cost of the kit. Then you'll need 15% more induction since you're building 15% more motor. Or you can do like the typical 408 owner and put a set of box stock TW or AFR 185s on it. LOL

the 351 just leaves lots more room to grow and is a mush stronger block to start with cuz if you want to make 550 hp that's gone to be getting up there for a 5.0 stock block. with the 351 block you can go much high so if you are looking to grow even more do the 351
