Default Help!! Grinding Noise on 2005 V6

Hello fellow pony owners,

I have a 2005 Automatic V6 and I'm super worried. I started to notice that its been making a noise when I begin to accelerate to about 35-40 mph. After I'm going 40 I don't hear anything. It sounds like metal on metal grinding. It also sounds like its coming from the bottom front of the car. It doesn't always do this but I'd say it does it about 70% of the time. I took it to the shop and they said they can't hear anything but truth is it sounds awful and I have no idea what it is.

Any ideas?

-Candy

Water pump going bad? Power steering pump? Alternator going bad? Accessory drive belt needs replacing? Many many more possibilities. Find a better mechanic than the one you went to before. Hopefully its not to bad to fix.

Candy,

Mine does the same thing. Grinding noise in the 35-40 mph range but goes away once I get up to speed. However, mine sounds like it is right under the gear box or shifter. I assume it is something to do with transmission at that range/gear. My car has 110K miles on it but I have not had it looked at for this noise. Did you ever get your looked at again?
