IMO, I wouldn't waste my $$$ on installing another stock clutch. Why put in another unit that gave out the first time? It's an opportunity to upgrade to a better aftermarket part (I had a SPEC2 installed in my old PP coupe)

Ditto to this. It's going to cost very little more to put in a quality aftermarket clutch that'll perform better and last longer. Labor is the same either way.
Also, skip the dealer and shop around for a quality local independent shop (if you can't tackle the job yourself). You'll save on the labor, and most likely get better service.
I was wondering what the average price would be for a new V6 Clutch and Labor. My local dealer quoted me $1100. Is that in the ballpark?
Thanks,
Jason
I just had mine replaced under warranty. Have you looked into that ? My trans seemed extremely noisy when I took it in right before the warranty expired. The Ford garage said it wasn't the trans but the pressure plate, flywheel and clutch. Ford replaced the whole thing for nothing. Worth at least asking about. Barring that I would certainly never pay for a stock clutch. After market will provide much more grip and last longer for about the same $$$. Seems like $600 was what I heard from an idependent guy.

I talked to my dealer, they told me my clutch was not covered under warranty, as it is "wear and tear" part. How did you get your dealer to cover it?? How many miles do you have on your car? I am at 55k.
I ordered a new valeo clutch online for $400, am having it installed for 300 with machining my flywheel.

There's a TSB out for the early S197 V6 cars with a noisy clutch, which involves the dealer installing revised parts such as are used in the 07 up models
