Free tunes for life as long as you own the car and keep it n/a. They dont tune supercharged or turbo builds anymore I dont think.

So if you add a mod down the road, they will rewrite you another tune to keep the car current

Go with one of the CAI + Tuner combos that American Muscle offers. Their tunes are great, especially the 91 Race

C&L, JLT, K&N and FRPP all get great feedback on the forums. Can't go wrong.

Am I understanding this correctly, a CAI that does not require a tune, does not flow as much air as a tune required CAI?

If I changed from my Airaid to a JLT, I would get better airflow? Hence, adding more HP?

The difference in airflow is minimal between the 2 and you might see a few added horsepower with the correct tune. The added airflow would come into play more if you had some breathing mods like cams, LT's, ported, where the engine could make use of the additional flow and the PCM was tuned accordingly. But on the average S197, the difference in performance gains to the wheels is really minimal to justify replacing a no-tune required CAI, IMO.

Understood. Thanks for the clarification. ;-)

There IS NO best CAI.

Just get one that looks the best to you.
But make sure you get one that REQUIRES a tune.
Otherwise you are not going to get any performance worth anything and wont feel a bit of difference.

Get a tune from American Muscle or Brenspeed.
Get a handheld tuner (SCT tuner) and a CAI with a tune package.

The ONLY CAI I do NOT like is the K&N.
They say none of theirs require tunes and their gains are not what they say they are in ANY way to my knowledge.

Again in short, get a CAI that you think looks the best and make sure
it requires a tune and get a CAI/Tuner package with tunes.
