3:55 gears vs 3:73 vs 4:10 ?

3:55 gears vs 3:73 vs 4:10 ?
I talked to a ford auto mechanic that said if i go with the 4:10's my mustang gt will get horrible gas mileage is this true? And what is better 3:55 or 3:73 what is the difference? thanks
