Default Stock GT Tuning

I keep reading over and over again how much of a performance improvement tuning will/can do to an automatic GT. If I were to take my car somewhere to have it tuned, what should be done? I am not even sure what all a tuner can do...so I wouldn't know what to ask for if I did take it somewhere. I could see how taking my car somewhere to have this done could be a better investment for me rather than buying a tuner, as my technical abilities with a car pretty much ends with a tune up...I don't want to screw with the computer and ef something up, then have to tow it somewhere to have my mistake fixed! My car is an '02 GT Auto, bone stock. As with my gear question the other day, I'm just planning ahead.

I'm pretty sure you will need a tuner or chip in order to get a dyno tune unless they can reflash your computer chip in there now. Im not quite sure but there are plenty of guys on here that can tell you for certain. In my opinion, just buy the Predator tuner and install thier canned tune and you should see decent improvment in performance and driveability. Plus as you add mods you will have a tuner to adjust for them.

basically a dyno tune involves playing with the air/ fuel ratios, spark advance, etc. tweaking this and that to come up with the best possible hp #'s for your car, its pretty harmless although it will make your *** pucker to watch cuz wot inside of a garage at about 6000 rpm is loud as hell!
