Torque Converters

RE: Torque Converters
Don't spend your hard earned money on a gear change just yet.
A high stall And 4.10 gear's = much wheel spin.
After a stall upgrade there is only a 10th or two to be picked up by dropping your gear ratio.
Keeping your stock gear's will also insure your highway rpm's will stay low for engine longevity plus optimum mpg.
If your gear ratio is round 3.00 to 3.55 a minimum stall for you would seem to be from 3200 to 3500 and still be totally streetable. And you'll get that bitch storming out of the hole like a raped ape!
Make some phone call's to sponser's and get some advise.

A lock up will literally lock up and not slip at all. When it locks is depenant on a few factors, such as what gear your in, mph, and thottle position.
A 3-4000 lock up stall is not that big of a deal on the street, once it locks it acts just like a stock converter and your gas milage and cruise rpm is the same (locked is locked after all). As far as parts breaking easier, I really don't feel it will cause that more than any other part, plus a Stang has decent rear end. Brands like Yank, Fuddle and Precision Idustries are all very good. The one thing with a converter is that you get what you pay for. Most people don't want to hear this but a good converter will cost about $700-800, you can pay now or pay later.

I personally think yank's bit pricey.
I have heard they are a bit more efficient at the high end, but there's quite a few people that will save the buck's and go with fuddle.
Also, more then one person has said that customer service from yank should there be any issue's can be a trying experience.
