Default 2001GT tire noise in turns

I have a 2001 GT with a 5 speed. The car is all stock. Recently I noticed that I had a lot of tire noise from the front left tire at about 40, 55 and 70mph but the noise was intermittent. I thought I broke a belt in my tire. My tires were ready to be replaced anyway so I put all new tires on. The noise did not go away. I lifted the car. I can definitely tip the wheel a few degrees top to bottom but not right to left. The right side wheel is solid. I have now noticed that the noise is very loud if I turn (even just a little) to the right and immediately goes quiet if I turn (even just a little) to the left. Myself and my buddies are stumped? I know I have some work to do, I just don't know where to start? Thanks for any ideas.

Is it tire noise or bearing noise?

Turn them with hands and compare, left to the right one.

Well first off hit all the lugs on that wheel one more time...think one could be cross threaded? Double check the ball joint, wheel bearing, sock absorber and tie rod (they could all be the potential problem)...did the tires you take off have any unusual wear on the tread?

Thanks for the replies. After more poking, proding and listening to the noise, I have determined that my front struts are whooped and my front left wheel bearing hub assembly is shot. I have ordered the hub assembly and should install it very soon. As for the struts, I am in process of quickly deciding whether to replace with stock or do a suspension upgrade. Thanks again for the help.

Mach 1 struts are an upgrade.

I had the same thing happen to me and it was the wheel bearing... cost's $60 from oreily's, jack up your car and see if your wheel moves when you shake it, if it doesnt move, its not the wheel bearing, if it does, and all the lugs are tight and not cross threaded, its probably the wheel bearing.

I changed the hub assembly today and it solved the problem. It was definitely a bad wheel bearing in the hub. Are the mach 1 struts available as part of a kit? I am leaning towards the bullitt kit because I think I want to do springs, shocks and struts. Thanks again.
