What the hell is up with all the flywheel options?? I don't wanna spen $250 on an aluminum, so I'm looking at a steel one. But they have 0 balnce internal or 28oz external or 50oz external???? Does the 96-98 need a 50oz externally balanced flywheel?

I just got mine, go to AmericanMuscle.com and look at the options for the year and engine size. They take all the guess work out for you.

I would go for the Aluminium flywheel because it is light and it will take some weight off your car.

+1

Go to a mustang specific shop/website and ask them. They will be able to get you exactly what you need.

The aluminum flywheels don't really drop alot of weight off the car, the entire point though is that its rotating mass, not just adding weight to the car. I heard mixed reviews about em (some people didn't like em) so I just saved my money and got a stocker from MPH.

If you want to cut some drivetrain weight and save money, get a regular fly and then a FRPP aluminum driveshaft.

I was told the Aluminum Flywheels make you lose low end torque, due to the loss of Rotational Mass, they rev quicker, but with enough HP you can destroy one.

As long as youknowthe ratingHP for the particularaluminium flywheel prior to instalation you'll be fine. To kinda piggy backonwhat you were saying, lighter flywheelcan help get a quicker jump off the line, where as a heavier one can help you gain more HP at top end.

No you have it backwards. The mass of a steel flywheel or stocker gives it a hard launch off the line. The aluminum doesnt have the mass to take a hard launch so it usually bogs or hurts your low end performance untill your car gets moving then it will shine in the upper rpms. I vote stay with the stock flywheel.
