Default slighty bigger tires on stockers

hey guys, been wanting to get slighty bigger tires but want to keep the stock rims. my current stock rims are 17x8. and 245/45/17. i was told by many sources i can go with a 255/45/17 on this stock rim. now if i go with this size, what improvements or disappoinments might i expect??

I would say it would be about the same as the stockers performance wise, but imo a 255 on an 8" looks better but its not very noticable.

that is correct... and you could fit 275/40 series tires on the stock 17x8's...

It would look a bit odd if you went 275 all around w/ the stock wheels unless you got some spacers in the rear. As is, stock, the front wheels stick out a little further than the rear wheels. With stock wheels (yes they are 8" wide) you could:
A.) Go 255s all around
B.) Go 275s all around (would look alot better with spacers)
C.) Go 275 in the rear, 245 on the front (would look great, but would be limited with tire rotations).

Personally once my 245s are bald (rapidly approaching lol), I will go 255 all around. I love my stock rims too much to get anything else, so I will just have to make due w/ the 8" rim.
