Default 5.0 swap

hey guys i have a built 5.0 sitting in my garage and was thinking about putting it into my 2002 v6 mustang. The motor is carbuertated and wanted to know how much is it gonna sux to remove all the efi component? Also will i have to do anything to the chip key ignition? Does anyone know if this will affect the alarm system or do i jsut completly remove the computer and alarm?

the main thing that will suck is, if your state is tight on emmisions like PA is, you won't be able to run a carb'd 5.0 on the streets, but even if you would plan for a O/R vehicle, it would be a sucky swap.

It might be a hassle, but if it is built like you say, it would probably be worth it. I am looking to replace my 4.6 with a 5.0 in a few years.

why not just buy a fox roller and dump it into that...it would be cheaper and easier on you. I dont know the specifics of the swap so good luck if you decide to go through with it.

+1

Probably could sell your 6, buy a roller fox with everything but motor, and still come out way ahead price wise.

Not to mention the fox would be faster, have the proper trans and rearend, etc etc.

Your gonna need alot more than just the engine... like a better rearend, new bellhousing, exhaust, mounts, etc etc etc.

well as the other guys said, you will run into problems but i'm taking it you probably, as most poeple like the looks of a newer GT than those old ugly(my opinion) 80's/early 90's stangs. If you're relative owns a shop I'd go for it if they could help you on places you get stuck it shouldn't be a real hard thing to do, just be prepared to dish out some cash.
