vert top fade

RE: vert top fade
i recently had my convertible slashed on my 98 cobra...sad i know, but at ford they quoted it at 2700 for a cloth top, installed. their reasoning behind the high price was that the top is discontinued and has to be custom made. i decided to get a 2nd quote at a local custom car top store and they gave me the price of 1007 installed. its a 10 hour job so labor is whats really going to jack the price up, the cloth alone is 700 dollars at ford and the custom place where i went. i would not even considering doing it myself unless i had someone who knew what they were doing along side me....10 hours for a professional to do it will probably be 20 hours for an unexperienced person to do...oh well, i go in tomorrow to have mine installed, yay!

RE: vert top fade
Don't go to Ford...they don't aactually do the work anyway they sub it out then add to the price and make a profit. It should be between 700-900 for a new regular top and 1000-1300 for a cloth likr the 03 Cobra...
To protect it and help with fading use aerospace303 top cleaner and protectant...its a great product.
