2003/2004 cobra engine/sc questions
Hey,
im lookin to get a 03/04 cobra motor, ive found some online and what not, but i have a few questions about the setup i hope someone can answer.
1.) What boost does the sc run stock?
2.) Does it come intercooled?
3.) How much boost do you think the motor can hold?
4.) I have a vortec sc now.Ive heard that people usually dont like the eaton sc that comes with the car and either swap it for a KB or rebild them. I am looking to run 16psi, do you suggest rebuilding the eaton? or swapping it out and using my vortec??? I just had it rebuilt and id hate to have wasted that money just to rebuild the eaton...
Thanks a lot for the info.

KB is always the way to go with those motors. Those motors can handle a substantial amount of power too because they're all forged internals. They come with a heat exchanger which you'd have to upgrade once u bump the boost up.
You can also port the eaton too....alot of guys make good numbers with just a ported eaton, more boost, other bolt-ons and a tune.

i know its the popular dream to buy a cobra motor, some dopes are spending upwards of 6 and 7 grand on doing that (just in parts)... but honestly, truely you can get alot more for your money elsewhere.... you can get a cobra motor (1000-1500) and forged bottom end good to 900 rwhp (3000) and a new FI system that makes the eaton look like crap (because it is) you can even do a turbo at a local turbo shop on your built motor for about the same price as you would having that stock cobra motor... and what you do get? ALOT more power, and potential, and the stock cobra t-56 is not viper spec (far as I am aware) and you can get a TKO for around 1500-2000 and keep not have a 6 spd (better for racing imo) or even buy a used viper spec t-56 for somewhere close... so in the end you might spend 1000-3000 more, but its cheaper in the long run, bc youd be buying that stock stuff just to rebuild it and throw it away

but yeah it comes intercooled, with a junky cooler
The steigge eatons will make around 550 i believe
The motor will hold 700 rwhp safely, more than that and new pistons are advised
The 04 motor has the "head fix". so if you must get that year
Poeple do twin screws on cobras because they are the easiest and cheapest thing to do for most part, not becuase its the fastest way to go
