Default 4.6 Casting Information

I just purchased a 1996 GT 4.6, my engine is smoking and needs rebuilt.

My question is, I need the casting numbers that fit into my car or came in it so I know what short/long block to buy. For example, would a 2001 4.6 fit right in my 1996?

I am looking to not rewire anything just slap in a rebuilt motor. Please help... Thanks

Yeah, from what Iv read the shortblocks for most all 4.6L Fords are interchangeable. A 2001 4.6L should work just fine.

Hell why shell out the money for a stock one? [&:] Go to foxlakeracing's site and buy a fully forged shortblock from them. Get some stock PI heads and a stock PI intake and you'll be good to go. Shortblock will run ya about 3000-3500.

yea, but I dont feel like dropping 3500 on a forged block, will any year short block 4.6 work with the 99- PI heads? Other than the heads and intake is there anything else I need to buy?
