Default RE: help with long tube herders...

interesting... so stuff rags at the tail pipes? won't that hurt the engine b/c it can't breath freely? never hurd of this b4 i'll give it a try. seeing that i've never had and exhaust leak b4 what am i looking for exctaly? i can hear were it sounds like it's leaking but theres no way to pinpoint where exctally. is there anything that can give the leak a more noticable apperance, like visible exhuast, where it's leaking? thanks for the tip btw

If you can't pinpoint the problem, then you can't fix it. It is unfortunate that the leak may be coming from somewhere that is a pain to get to, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

The engine will still run pretty much normal while restricting the exhaust with rags. Enough exhaust leaks past the rags and out of the leak to keep it running normally. It just adds a bunch of back pressure to the system and forces more gasses out of the leak, making it easier to find. It also quiets the noise from the tail pipes, making it a little easier to listen for the leak. Don't burn yourself, though, the tips can get hot.

I don't know how much more help anyone can be until you figure out exactly what is leaking. Good luck.
