So unfortunately my tranny isn't doing so hot and I figure its about time for a rebuild or a swap. I am really interested in doing a swap, but I'm a little weary of the complexity of whats involved as far as parts and cost. First of all what tranny would be best to use and would bolt up and also be able to take the abuse of a full size trunk pounding through the desert (fyi: the truck is desert prerunner so I need it to be able to take some pretty harsh abuse). Anyone have a rough parts list idea of what is involved? I mean is this a realistic project without serious fabrication? I was hoping to spend around what it would cost to rebuild the tranny I have now with upgraded components or to replace it with a remanufactured tranny. Any ideas/advice is much appreciated thanks.
