Default leave it in 3rd through traps?

Do you guys leave it in 3rd through traps with stock 3.27 gears? 6k rpm in 3rd is about 103 mph. My best 1/4 mile so far i left it in 3rd and got a 14.62 at 101.6. Shifting to 4th i got a 14.7 at 99 because i was basicly in neutral through the traps shifting to 4th.

Both of these runs had identical 2.68 60 foot times

my 60 foot times are so bad for the mph because my differential is broken and only 1 of my wheels gets traction.. going to get it rebuilt with http://www.jegs.com/i/Ford+Racing/397/M-4700-C/10002/-1 very soon -

After this im hoping to pull 2.0 60 foots so my times are going to be faster by about .7 sec hopefully..

i dont think im going to be trapping more than 103 stock so imo i think its best to leave it in 3rd and redline pretty hard (6k rpm) instead of using time to shift to 4th

does lowering your 60 foot time significantly affect your trap speed?

You are still in 3rd b/c of your bad 60'. When you drop your 60', you will be in third a whole lot faster. I'm in 4th gear shortly after the 1/8th mile, way before the 1/4 mark. I shift around 5700, depending on the gear I'm in.

I leave it in 3rd going through the traps in my basically stock car. I tried shifting into 4th at 5000 rpm once and lost 1 mph and .05 seconds.

Stock gears should be in the meat of the powerband with stock gears and a decent 60'. 3.73s or higher, short shift at like 5

I would say stay in 3rd, there are some people that do 4th, but also if you minimize shifts and stay in the powerband that's where your best time will come from
