Default 5th clutch cable broke

well to start off my 21st bday, just as i was about to leave my neighborhood to go to the bar my clutch cable snapped again but i was able to turn around and get it home. this is the 5th one since i repolaced the oem system which i think i never shouldve done now. First it was upr triple hook quad, broke 4 cables with that due to rough edges on the quad rubbing. UPR replaced it with their redesigned one which eliminates those sharp rough edges and wat i thought would last did only about 2-3 months tops. what is going on here? its being cut/snapping off at the end at the quadrant. my clutch isnt even too heavy, little more than stock feel but no where near my firends stage 2. i even put washers on the shafts to keep it from moving around since theres always play in them. I have to go get a cable when ford opens but should i just get a whole new kit from JDM enginnering? they sell steeda. I bought a downs ford quadrant which is pretty much identical to the original upr and im afraid to use it. I NEED HELP! haha

Did you apply a light coat of grease to the cable and quadrant?

How much free-play is in the pedal? You should have 1" to 1-1/4" when pressing on it with your hand, and before you feel the ToB start to compress the PP spring. Less than that and the cable could be getting overly stressed when pressed to the floor.

Are you using an aftermarket cable?

Where at the quadrant? At the hook or at the exit end?

If it's at the exit end then take the quadrant out and use a small rattail file to taper and radius the face of the exit groove so as to place a more even/less stress on the cable.

Any photos of the broken ends?

I've been running my UPR 3-hook quadrant, and their QuickClick adjuster, with the original OEM cable, for nearly 2-years, and 45k miles with no problems.

Which firewall adjuster are you using, or are you using adjustable cables?

are you using a firewall adjuster? i was told that on 99-04 they are not recommended as they have a tendency to cause the cable to break. just my $.02
