Default Orange fan/radiator indicator light??

1998 4.6 conv.

I changed out my air filter this weekend and I noticed that my engine was pretty dirty. I started the engine up and ran the hose over it to get a lot of the dust off.

i kept it running for a while so the water would drain off and evaporate. I went and took it for about a 3 or so mile drive to be sure that all the water would be gone off the engine before I turned it off.

After about a mile or so this orange indicator light came on?? It looked like a fan and a radiator...

I stopped the car and opened the hood (mind you it was about 115 degrees here in Phoenix) and didnt see any issues. The radiator fan was working properly and it was full of coolant. I turned the car off and then back on again and the light went off.

This morning on my way to work (22 mile trip) no light at all...

Anyone have any idea what this light means and what could have caused this?

Thanks!

ND

The engine was not overheating or anything - just not sure what caused that light to come on or what it even means?

Isn't that light for coolant level in the resovoir? I think there are problems with it going on for no reason.

Ya - maybe the sensor (or wires) got wet from the water I was spraying and triggered the light to go on?

If it is the coolant level light - I will check it when I get home from work tonight to verify if it has enough coolent in it. But the level was where it is supposed to be yesterday when the light came on...

Mine comes on in the winter for no reason. Some people disable that sensor.
