Hi all, I was having a problem with wear on the inside of my front tires from lowering the car it would rub against the shock absorber, and it ended up cutting my tire. So my first try was to install 1/4 inch spacers, but my question is do I need longer studs or different lug nuts or is 11-12 threads turns enough bite to be safe. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a case of too much neg. camber, but don't know why tires would hit the struts.

How much did you lower your ride (2"+ is too much, IMO) Is this an issue of rubbing on both sides?

It was a 1 inch lowering spring, and the driver side is more severe because i'm a large fellow. It's only rubs a little on the passenger side, also I didn't lower my rear because I wanted that drag look. I'm thinking of getting caster/camber plates, and spring rubbers for my side.

1" is not soo much as to have any type of issue unless your wheel off-set is incorrect or your tire is WAY oversized for your wheel. Do you have a link to the wheels you purchased?

Can you tell us what size tire you are running and were the wheels meant to run on your specific year car? Can you take some pictures of the are in which the tires rub and maybe with the wheels turned so they hit the strut?

I looks like you're running 17x9 up front. If correct, you should be able to squeeze 275s up front from what I understand. C&C plates seem necessary based on the photos and your described issue. A bump steer kit and/or offset rack bushings may be a good idea, also.

Hi all, yes my wheels are offset if I'm not mistaken +45???? I'm not sure though I'll look up the exact specs when I get home. However my wheels are 18X8.5 (Front), and wheel size is 245 40R 18(Front). Also I never had this problem until I lowered the car. 04BlueGT can you send me links for where to look at getting a bump steer kit, and what is that? Sorry I'm a noob when it comes to suspension. Also we put new shocks on after lowering the car, but they are much stiffer than the stock one's that were on, and they aren't adjustable. Thank you everyone for your quick feedback it sucks cutting new tires. Also I'll get pics when I get home.

Well, if your off-set dimensions are correct at +45mm... that is your issue without question. This should be nearer to +24mm and you are 1" deeper than you should be, so you need to confirm this prior to going forward from here.

Let us know, so we aren't guessing on how to proceed. CC plates and bump-steer are not going to address the issue described, so hold off until we know about off-set. If you cannot find it, pull the wheel and measure the back-space.
