Default Steel vs. Aluminum

In the process of installin new clutch in car.. Which would be a better flywheel...steel or aluminum.... car is street and strip with bolt ons...99 gt

Steel. For a drag car, the aluminum FW will cause the rpms to drop quicker causing you fall out of your powerband faster. If it were a open course or just a road car, then i'd suggest the aluminum.

Only 2 weeks ago I just replaced my clutch setup and went with the aluminum flywheel (see sig.). So far I love it, it really woke the car up in terms of acceleration, and have had no issues in terms of drivability. I'm not a dedicated drag racer at all, so I haven't noticed the drawback that SYXNERD mentioned in his post, but I have heard others saying the same thing. Regarding the steel flywheels, if you're looking for something lighter than the stock nodular iron piece, I was told that the steel ones were almost identical in weight to the stockers. Going just by feel, I'd say the aluminum one weighs almost 50% less than the stock one did.
